AGC gives Concert for Christies a Voice to be heard
AGC Chemicals Europe has donated £750 (made from donations from the company and the companies charity committee the 500 Club) to pay for the microphone hire for a local production; Concert for Christies.
Concert for Christies is a bi-annual event with all proceeds going to The Christie Hospital in Manchester. Since the first concert in 2011, over £9,000 has been donated to the charity by the group. This year’s concert will run from 9th-11th July at the Lowther Pavillion in Lytham. The concert features the best adult talent from the Fylde Coast alongside children from the Fylde STage Academy and includes excerpts from musicals, both old and new. In this year’s concert the cast will perform sections from musicals such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Mamma Mia, Hairspray, and Miss Saigon. The donation follows after AGC Chemicals Europe employee, Katy Taylor, told the company about the concert and the group’s aim to minimise production costs to maximise the donation to The Christie Hospital. Katy has performed in all three concerts so far, and this is the second concert to which AGC Chemicals Europe has made a donation.
Tickets for the concert are available online www.lowtherpavilion.co.uk

Successful 10k Fun Run completed by AGC raising £ 1,737.58 (up to date)
17 of our brave employees participated in the annual ‘Beaverbrooks 10k Fun Run’ in Blackpool on Sunday 10th May. Supported by our families and friends we managed to exceed our goal of raising £ 1,000 for the Trinity Palliative Care Services and Brian House Children’s Hospice*. The team was running in memory of our colleague Ken Adams who sadly passed away last November.
Thank you for all your support! We are proud to be part of this and being able to donate and support local charities means a great deal to the whole AGC family.
The AGC 10k running team–
Simon the Scientist, Susie Claridge, Katy Taylor, Sonja Mueller, Becky Davis, Paul Breakwell, Andrew Scully, Michael Grimshaw, Helen Thompson, Joanne MacRae, Makito Kawahara, John Haines, Hiroki Nakamura, Hiroshi Nakamura, Billy Chandler, Paul Obertelle, Rob Pelham, Chris Waring
*Trinity Hospice and Palliative Care Services and Brian House Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care to the adults and children of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre and much needed support for their families. Their services are available free of charge, however the Hospice only receives limited government funding and therefore approximately £4m need to be raised each year from the community. Support is greatly appreciated.
Funds Raised for Rakehead Centre at Burnley General
AGC Chemicals Europe recently held an auction where employees could bid for unused IT equipment in aid of charity.
A total of £2895 was raised and donated to the Rakehead Rehabilitation Centre for complex neurological and spinal injuries at Burnley General Hospital.
The Ward Manager expressed gratitude saying that the conservatory has now become an area with activities and games and they have purchased a laptop with apps for bedbound patients.
Patients can be in the unit for up to 6 months and so the equipment, games, laptop and touch screen computers will benefit both patients and relatives visiting loved ones.
