Fluon+ COMPOSITES are adhesive fluoropolymers developed by AGC which may be combined/laminated with CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastics) / CFRTP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Thermo Plastics) for “plus alpha” performance.
CFRTP/CFRP made from Functionalised Fluoropolymers
A ground-breaking development for composite design, building on our- established polymerysation technology of fluoropolymer.
Benefits
Universal fibre-matrix adhesion
AGC’s adhesive fluoropolymers exhibit strong adhesion to metals including copper, titanium, and stainless steels. These can be applied as adhesive layers for bonding or laminating CFRTP with metal base materials.
Wide temperature range(-200℃ up to 260℃)
One of the characteristics of fluoropolymers is mechanical strength retained across a wide range of temperatures.
Impact strength improvement
With the outstanding flexibility of fluoropolymers, the impact resistance of materials can be significantly increased. Fluoropolymers can also reduce the occurrence of microcracks.
Low water absorption
By adding fluoropolymers, water absorption properties can be reduced. When mixing fluoropolymers with base polymers, water absorption diminishes based on the amount added.
Flame retardancy
The flame retardant properties of fluoropolymers can improve those of CFRP/CFRTP.
Combining fluoropolymers with metals
AGC’s adhesive fluoropolymers exhibit strong adhesion to metals, including copper, titanium, and stainless steels. These can be applied as adhesive layers for bonding or laminating CFRTP with metal base materials.
Excellent dielectric properties
Vibration damping
High temperature adhesive
Superior chemical resistance
There are various methods for combining fluoropolymers with other materials as below. In addition, product characteristics differ by the method of combination and optimal compositions also depend on the base polymer or carbon fibre type. AGC provides technical service by working together with our customers, considering and proposing composite products that fit customer applications.
