ITHEC 2020

AGC Chemicals Europe at ITHEC 2020 Virtual Edition

AGC Chemicals Europe is joining the first virtual ITHEC edition this week. The conference and exhibition focuses on structural lightweight construction and up to 500 participants from around the world are presenting and discussing the newest scientific results. As a market leader in fluoropolymer technology, AGC Chemicals recently developed a range of functional fluoropolymers called Fluon+. The unique chemistry of these materials enhances their compatibility with a variety of substrates and matrices, offering new potentials in composites technology.

Both Claus-Peter Keller, Sales & Business Development Manager, and Chris Kent, Technical Sales Representative, will not only attend, but moreover present at the conference.

Claus-Peter Keller will give two lectures exploring the ‘Impact Modification of CF / PPS with Functional Fluoropolymers’. CF/PPS is one of the preferred high performance CFRTP material combinations. However, the industry is seeking for solutions to overcome the brittleness of PPS and improve its overall impact resistance in a composite. His lecture will show how a functional fluoropolymer can be used as an impact modifier for a PPS matrix.

Claus-Peter’s lectures will be on Wednesday, 14 October 2020 at 11:45am (CET) and at 05:45pm (CET).

Chris Kent is taking part in the Interactive Sessions, introducing AGC’s Fluon+ functional fluoropolymers range.

His session will take place on Tuesday, 13 October 2020 at 12:35am (CET).

Claus-Peter Keller – Sales & Business Development Manager

Claus-Peter Keller received a degree in applied materials/polymers science at the University of Applied Science in Osnabrück (Ger) and holds a MBA degree in international marketing from Reutlingen University (Ger). He has over 20 years’ industrial experience with a strong focus on fluoropolymers and fluorochemicals. His functional experience includes product development, sales/marketing and business development in various industries such as automotive, aerospace, chemical or electrical.

Chris Kent

Chris Kent –  Technical Sales Representative

Beginning his career in industry back in 2000, Chris Kent started as a chemistry apprentice in the nuclear sector. To gain further knowledge, he studied part time and graduated with a degree in Chemistry in 2005 and continued to work in this highly-regulated sector. In 2015, he switched to the polymer industry, joining AGC Chemicals Europe as QA Manager, where he obtained a broad understanding of the manufacturing processes for fluoropolymers.

Looking for a new challenge, he moved into the Commercial team in 2017 as a Technical Service Advisor, which provided him with an insight into the various industries to which AGC supplies its products, particularly automotive, aerospace, and chemical processing. This gave him the opportunity to see how consumers of polymers manufacture their various parts and the potential problems and challenges they may encounter.

Chris was recently appointed to the position of Technical Sales Advisor, with responsibility for accounts in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Turkey. His passion for novel technologies and developments has led him to explore new opportunities in the field of fluoropolymers, particularly composites.
